WALZ FAMILY UNITED!!

My Grandpa Pete Walz and Grandma Judy.
The whole gang!
The ones who started it. Sophia (Kuper) and Carl "Buck" Walz

I, along with my three kids, attended this years "Walz Family Reunion" on Saturday, October 10th at a church in Holt Summit. While I enjoyed seeing everyone, my time was mostly made up of going back and forth checking on the kids as they played and frolicked. Anyone who knows me can justly understand that my kids are curious and adventurous souls, therefore, they rarely act "domesticated" when I need them too. Not that they are not well mannered, they have just not been trained in pretending to be interested in anything other than what is "interesting" to them yet. I personally prefer it that way. Savannah on the other hand, although 11, has always been a more subdued little lady and often acts as the mama hen and offers me help when I need it. Sydney and Brock both love to play and really enjoy playing with each other dispite the age difference. In summary, the reunion was fun, but I am glad they only come around once in awhile because this little mama was tired afterward. Solute to the Walz family, proud to be a part of one of the oldest families in JC. Whoot, Whoot!

HOMEWORK ALREADY!!

Welcome home Betsy the Bear!!!

Tonight Brock was sent home with his very first homework assignment...taking care of Betsy the Bear and telling a story about her time with our family. Brock got her home and fed her, changed her, burbed her and put her to bed. He even politley asked me to stop vacuming because Betsy was sleeping. While he ate his dinner, Betsy was right by his side. When it was time to tell her story he told me that Betsy's favorite drink was milk, her favorite food was spaghetti and she especially liked to get into his toy box and play with his tractors. Before Betsy went to sleep for the night, Brock and sissy read her a book to ease her to bed. Before that he asked if I wanted to hold her and I said "Well of course I do!" So I was feeding her and began to sing and again he politley asked for me to stop. lol He said "Mama, do you love her? " I said " yes I love her...but not as much as I love you."

GOOD OLE' BOY

Brock is a good ole' boy, a Huckelberry Fin of the modern world. Fishin', playin ball, get dirty in the sand pit. Last night I told him since it was nice out he could play in his out-door tractor pit. I was surprised when he instead wanted to fill up his sandbox down stairs. I had created a little play room of sorts in the basement where he could still get down and dirty during the cold winter months. I guess he was impressed because he put his sissy to work carry cup after cup of sand to the downstairs pit. (I was cooking dinner, chicken parm to be exact!). Even this morning after I got him dressed he said "mama, I am going down to the basement to play in my pit!" I had a hard time getting him to come up for school, and as usual he almost gave his sister a heart attack thinking she would be late. See Savannah likes to get to school early to do whatever it is the early birds do, and Brock makes it difficult for that to happen...but yet we always manage.

SOUTHERN PRIDE

Some of you may or may not know that my paternal side of the family yeilds from the rolling hills of eastern Tennessee. My dad, Dirk T. Myers, has a passion for our Myers/Bray lineage. The last fortaking was the arrival of this most impressive and AUTHENTIC certificate of Civil War Families of Tennesee. He had to go through extensive work proving his descendecy to William Anderson Myers, who as you can see above served in the Confederate army during the Civil War. Pretty impressive huh? : )

I'VE GOT MY NEW SHOES ON AND SUDDENLY EVERYTHINGS RIGHT

Yesterday evening I took the kids to Old Navy and Barnes and Noble for a few items. At Old Navy brock spotted a pair of camo shoes he just had to have. Since he is low on "cool" shoes I buckled and bought them for him. When we got home he immediately went to the bag, pulled out the shoes and brought them to me to unleash, aswell as already getting the scissors from the drawer without me asking. After I "unleashed" them he was ready to try them out...and try them out he did. When it was time for bed I got him in his jammies but he insisted on wearing his shoes to sleep. Since I am not anal in very many ways this did not bother me in the least. It started to bother me though, when at about 3 a.m. he woke me up because one of his shoes had fallen of of his foot. He said "mama, my shoe came off, please help me find it!" So I scrambled around blindly until I finally touched upon what must be the shoe, luckily enough it was. Back on his foot it went. At about 7 a.m. ( I prefer to wake at 7:30 if possible) he is breathing in my face saying "mama, can you help me get dressed? Its time to go to school with my new shoes!" So cute!

The day before I went to his school because he got a scratch on his head and they wanted me to see it. After I got the bandaid on the wound he walked me outside to show me his play area. Immediatley a gang of boys came up to ask Brock who was with him. He says "this is my mom." The boys begin to try and hug him and tell me that he is their best buddy! Brock seemed put off by the attention and was less than appriciative of the hugs. When I left I peeked out the door to see him playing by himself, and the boys trying to get him to join in. He must have other things in mind that can only be accomplished by himself. Then when I picked him up last night and asked him how school was he said, "I don't like it when those boys hug me. " lol

I will post a picture of him with his shoes soon!

ODE TO THE END OF THE SEASON

One of Brock's favorite things to do is hang out with his daddy at the ballpark. Although, I have a hard time grasping this concept : ), I think it is precious that father and son can have such a connection. Brock is boy through and through and I am thankful that his dad is also and can help to manage the "boy" things that I myself cannot. I do often play ball with Brock in the front yard, or get down and dirty in the tractor pit, but that still doesn't compare to the whole world of softball camraderie. One little thing I have noticed is Brock is an EXPERT frog catcher. Well he got that skill just by being out at the fields of a night catching frog after frog. Basically, even though the whole "softball" world has no appeal to me, I am happy that my son has the chance to experience it. So here's to softball!...that keeps my little boy happy and content!

P.S. So thankful I don't have to deal with it anymore though. : )
